What is Enable mail forwarding mean?

I just signed up for a custom email address

they give me an option to Enable mail forwarding. They say to put in so many email address seperated by comas. What does this mean, iv never had a custom email address, so please explain.

It means that, if you choose to enable it, all of yourl that you receive to that address will be atomaticaly forwarded (sent to) the email address(es) that you put in.

This will not delete the emails on this account either.
