Is it possible to forward a DVD through e-mail?

I know we can send pics through e-mail but what about DVD? I have transferred my videos to DVD but can I share them through e-mail yet? Do you think that technology will be here soon?

Technically yes, practically no.

There are programs out there like FineSplit which allow you to break a large file into smaller ones but to do this to a movie would result in having to send hundreds of emails to get the file through since email servers limit the size of email you can send.

Say for example you cram your movie (degrade quality etc) into a 500 MB file but that your email provider allows you to send 5 MB attachments. You would tell FineSplit to break the program into 100, 5 MB files. That would have to be sent one at a time. The person you are emailing them to would have a limit on their inbox so they will have to pull them before you send to many. All this winds up being such a nuisance it is easier to burn a DVD and send it via snail mail.

Limits on attachment sizes and inboxes are always growing so I'm sure the day will come when you can send a DVD, but then movies will be on BluRay or HD-DVD or some new technoligy that is to big to fit in an email.
