Question for those of you that received stimulus check by mail...?

Is there an endorsement on the envelope that says anything about "NOT FORWARDING" that piece of mail? I am moving May 27th, Stimulus check is scheduled to be mailed on May 30th, I did a change of address with USPS, but not sure if I have enough time to make the change with the IRS. Please advise

There is not a no forwarding order on the envelope, you should automatically receive the check with your forwarding order with the postal service.

i think you'll get the check before you move b/c the irs has started mailing the rebates already since last week so you may get it between now and the 23rd,but if not you'll still need to do the change of address with the irs b/c if you move and you don't do a address change you'll never get the rebate.

the irs says without your new address the check will be considered undeliverable so you need to fill out out change of address form 8822 in order for the check to be mailed to the new address.

I had my stimulus direct deposited. Since you are moving, it should be forwarded to you. Do you live in an apartment? If yes or no -leave a Self address and stamped large envelope or 2 with either the manager or new people living there and ask them to mail you anything that comes addressed to you.
Usually the Post office is quicker with forwarding mail then it says. I got my stuff in a week when I moved.

depending on how far from the post office you are moving you might be able to have them hold it for you or ask them to forward it for because normaly they won't forward federal mail........
