Stimulus Letter??

I recieved a letter in the mail about my Stimulus rebate but it was forwarded from a address I had 2 years ago , should I call the IRS about my address ? I filed my taxes with H&R block for 2007 and it has my current address on it . Also my boyfriend didn't get a letter at all but he filed with H&R block too and they have our current address on file should he be worried he never received his letter ??????

If you received your tax rebate, your stimulus check will come the same way. I played it safe and had my refund check directly deposited, so I will receive the stimulus check the same way.

Question for you. The Stimulus letter from the IRS was it received after or before you file your taxes this year to the old address? If when they sent it, you has not filed your taxes, it would have gone to the old address that they had on file. Once you filed your taxe this year and if it was sent electronically, then they will have your address updated in the system. The check will come to the address on the 2007 tax return. But to make sure, you can call the IRS and verify that they have the right address, which they should. You can also go to IRS.gov and download the check of address for and mail it to the IRS. THe form is 8822.

There is a form online to change your address with the IRS. You have to fill it out and mail it in. Chances are that they won't process your change of address in time for the rebate to be mailed out. If he didn't receive his letter, it could have been returned to sender because his address is undeliverable. He can fill out a change of address form too. I think the IRS will remail the returned things if they get a hold of you in the future. If not, you're out of luck.

The first letters were sent to the address on file from your 2006 tax return. When you file your 2007 return if updates the IRS records and that's where your rebate check will be sent. If you have moved since filing your 2007 return, file a Form 8822 with the IRS and an Change of Address notification with the Post Office.
