Does this sound like a car scam to you? 2003 Toyota Camry selling for $2900?

I emailed this guy about it and this was the response:

You will make the payment to eBay and they will hold the money until you receive the car. ONLY AFTER you receive the car and you inspect it(for 10 days) eBay will release the payment to me; in this way we are both protected. Anyway i am sure that if you will don`t be satisfied about the car i will surely find another buyer in your area and there will be no need for you to ship the car back. I am located in London,United Kingdom and I was sent here to improve the military relationships between USA and UK. One months ago, my wife moved here with me and brought the car with her, but now we have to sell it back in the United States because we can't register it here; it has US specs and everything, and registering it here in Europe will take for ever. My final price on it is US 2,900 $. If you will take it for this price, I am willing to handle the shipping. It will be shipped from here by plane with US Air Military Cargo so it will not cost me anything. You will get it to the nearest airport in your area and then it will be trucked forward to your place. From the moment the payment is secured by eBay the shipping process will begin and it will arrive at your address in about 3 max. 4 business day Please get back to me asap if you decide to buy, and include in your e-mail your full name and address where you want it shipped so I can start the deal with eBay. You will receive all the transaction payment and shipping details from them.

That sounds interesting. I do mortgages and live in Utah. They have a major EBAY operation here. The reason I mention that is because Im doing loans for 2 people right now that work for EBAY. One of them is involved with the Automobile sales. It sounds about right other then why they hell are they flying it back? It would cost more money for the Government then the car is worth. Thats the fishy part. OH WAIT.... its the government flying it back, yeah that sounds about right.

I will ask them on monday. But make sure you are paying ebay. I dont know about this 10 day thing, but it might be right. Go to ebay.com and look at the agreement for autos.

Ill get back to you with more information on monday. And check to see if its listed on EBAY. Maybe sure they list it on ebay before you buy it on EBAY, or is that where you got it?

I talked to both of them today. We were talking about something else but I got your info. I talked to 2 ebay employees. The money is put in a escrow that ebay has no control over. Once you get the car the money is released. You can by insurance incase its a lemon but that is extra. Both of them said they have never heard a 10 day trail period. They both said that was really fishy.

I was told by both EBAY doesnt do what your seller is suggesting. Both of them said they dont do that, and one is over this part of the nation for automobiles.

Point is they dont do that. Its a lie.. Flat out. So be careful. Ebay doesnt give you 10 days, Ebay doesnt hold the money... Everything you were told is wrong according to EBAY.
