After windows update, I am unable to type message using Yahoo New Mail, but classic mail works fine. Why?


Whether I reply, forward, or compose a new email, I am unable to type into the body of the letter. This started Tuesday morning after a windows update during the night that required a restart of my computer. I have shut down again, signed out of Yahoo, deleted my cookies and temp internet files. Classic mail works fine, but I like the Yahoo New Mail. Please Help!!

The new e-mail has not be refined at this point. It is still working out the bugs. Please let Yahoo now when you have a problem with the new e-mail. This way they will know what they should concentrate on.

Here are some other things to try:
Scripting may be disabled in your Internet Explorer. This may happen due to updates. First, be sure you have the latest JAVA update; then, to enable scripting, follow the instructions on this HELP page (it is for Messenger, but it may help here as well): http://help.yahoo.com/l/us/yahoo/messeng...

You may also need to disable RESEARCH add-on in IE6 due to recent updates:
Disable Internet Explorer 6.0 add-ons:
1. From "Tools" menu, select "Manage Add-ons"
2. Click on the "Research" add-on if present, and then click Disable.
3. Close and relaunch the Internet Explorer internet browser.

Yahoo is still having some problems at the moment. Suggested cures range from Update Adobe Flash Player and Javascript to clear IE7 cache, cookies, and browsing history. Different things seem to work for different people. It's causing attachments to not show, 999 errors where it won't let you do a particular action and some people cannot send recieve delete or move mail. It's not just Vista either it's happening to some of us on XP. I have been advised to use this site to view my mail, www.mail2web.com if all else fails go back to classic mail via this link. http://us.mg1.mail.yahoo.com/dc/optout?s... click yes when asked do you want to opt out. Well, unfortunately for your way of thinking, Windows' updates don't have squat to do with Yahoo's unworkable Beta email. If you like Beta, you're stuck with it. It doesn't work, and Yahoo isn't fixing it right now. Yahoo is too busy laying off 1,000 people to fix anything. Either use Classic or just suffer with it, but don't blame Windows. After all, Yahoo turned down the Microsoft bid, so Windows has absolutely nothing to do with Yahoo!

I have the same problem too, if you ever find the answer let me know! I'll be looking further into this problem myself, and if I find a solution I'll let you know.

I would agree with "Bingoban"s answer - Mail Classic seams like a step back but its the only option at this time - hopefully this will be worked out soon - if it was "cache" or Int.Expl issues it would affect mail Classic also and it isnt -

I am using W2k and have the same problem following the Windows Update. Although I have no idea yet how to fix it, this work-around seems to work for me:

Start a new message and add the recipient and Subject.

Then, save it to drafts

Go to the draft and edit it and you can get into the message body ok
