Contacting Senate for Visa?

I got married overseas and applied for my wife's Visa in January, 2006. The NVC approved the case and forwarded the case to US Embassy in my country. Everything went smoothly & my wife exchanged necssary document packets back and forth until she was called for interview last month. She passed the interview & was told that she will get the visa in 6-7 days. It has been 4 weeks now & she still has not gotten the Visa yet.

In such scenerio, would it be a good idea for me (the petitioner) to contact the senate office of my state & make them aware of the matter & ask them to contact the US Embassy in my country to speed up the process? Everything is done (her case is approved, she passed the interview but is not given Visa yet when she was told 1 week). USA Embassy of my country is not responsive either (when you contact them via e-mail/phone).

Yes. Definitely. Your senator has staff who are knowledgeable about this issue, and have direct phone/email to the embassy. They will get you an answer!
