8Oth birthday party ideas? |
My mom and I are planning an 80th birthday party for my grandmother. It is planned from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. on a Sunday, in the conference room at the nursing facility she lives at. There will be a lot of elderly guests but some younger ones also. Not sure what to do to entertain people for 2 hours, but want to make it very special for my grandmother. Any ideas? How about a theme party -roaring 20s-grandmother was born in the year 1928-I think it would be Great fun for the other elders to remember the good times. music, hats from the 20s have a good time and happy birthday to granny! You could pick some very special pictures of your grandmother and have them put right on the cake. For example: her graduation, her wedding day, her first day of kindergarten, her first steps, things like that..... or you could put them in frames on a special table for people to look at. The theme could be about her life. You could have an ice cream party. Everyone likes different kinds of ice cream and that way you could please every one. You could pick one year out of her life and make the theme that year and have hats made for everyone and noise makers. You could play bingo and have prizes to give away. You could have numbers on the bottom of the plates and those people with a special number win a prize. You could have pretty flower arrangements on the tables and those who get the special numbers on their plates win the arrangements. You could have everyone write something nice on a piece of paper or have someone help them write it and put it into a pretty wrapped box about your grandmother when they come into the room and when the party is done, she can read the comments and know how much her friends and relatives really love her! Play Glenn Miller music, or other music from the 1940's (that would be her "era") The Andrews Sisters (Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy)...Can you & your mom roll your hair like they did in the 40's, and dress like that? If she was born in 1928, she she isn't going to remember the 20's, but was "wild & crazy" in the 40's!... .....I don't know what foods were popular then for snacks (sorry), but jello molds, brownies, cheese dips became popular in the 50's....... OH! And contact the WHITE HOUSE! President Bush will actually send congratulatory letters to elderly people for their birthdays!!! (I think they have to be 75 or 80) try making the theme of the party something your grandmother really likes! |
