Wedding luncheon at work? |
I would like to have a wedding luncheon at work for my co-workers since I can't invite them to my very small wedding(financial issues) so that way they don't think that I don't care. I understand your feelings, I had a small wedding, and was very stressed about hurting feelings, i ended up having an open house the evening of my wedding day, and invited my whole office, and anyone else that wasn't close family or friends... There was a little expense because we did serve dessert, but it was worth it. I was able to save the top of the cake, and all the flowers so it really ended up being quite lovely. I think that was a nicer gesture than a luncheon in the confrence room, and possibly about hte same price, since I would assume you are paying for the luncheon. Can you look at that as an option??? I just had the open house in my sister in laws back yard. I wouldnt do that if I were you. seems silly. they should be throwing you a little congrats lunch or something if they want to celebrate with you. this seems more like you trying to throw another little something for yourself. by giving them a little invite to a lunch you threw together for your wedding they might feel like your trying to get gifts or something. I personally would find it a little much if I worked with someone doing the same. You shouldn't be hosting a party for them at work, it should be the other way! And if they work at the same place you do then they should understand the financial issues surrounding you wedding. If they know the situation and you have expressed to them that you would otherwise invite them to your wedding, then you don't owe them anything else. It's no different than having a wedding 10,000 miles away. I don't think you would invite them in that situation either. I'm sure they understand the situation and are fine with it. And if they aren't friends enough to be having a party FOR you, then you shouldn't invite them anyway. i wouldn't do it...i have had 4 kids get married....we invited all of their co-workers...no one came.....if they want they will pass a card of take up a collection but having a luncheon is putting them on the spot..... Um, this sounds like a jackas*s move....if you really good friends with them you would invite them to the wedding.. anything else just looks tacky and like your begging for gifts. Why would you throw a luncheon for yourself? Seems greedy to me. Even if it is not your intent, since it is for your wedding they will most likely feel obligated to bring you a gift. I wouldn't do it. I wouldn't worry about not inviting them, they should understand that you are just having a small wedding. Hi. I understand where you are coming from in wanting a small wedding, and it is nice that you want to somehow include your co-workers, but I must agree with the others. To host your own luncheon seems a little weird. Uh, work is for the purpose of work. |
