What do you think of this rumor between oscar and pacquiao?

On November 18, 2007, the Manila Bulletin Online edition reported a possible bout Manny Pacquiao against Oscar De La Hoya.

On November 20, 2007, Jose Nunez, manager for WBO Super-lightweightweight Champion Joan Guzman, accused Pacquiao's handler, Bob Arum, of evading a match between the two boxers to protect Pacquiao. Guzman went as far as to directly call-out Pacquiao at the post-fight press conference of the Pacquiao-Barrera rematch, in front of a stunned crowd at the Mandalay Bay Events Center's media room in Las Vegas.

do you think this guy just wants to fight pacquiao so he can get the money? just want your opinion....

The fight might happen in December as long as Manny beats Marquez in March. I think it would be a mismatch because Oscar is just so much bigger than Manny, but it still might happen because it will give Oscar a big win and an even bigger payday to retire off of. As for Joan Guzman, he is the real deal and I actually would favor him to beat Manny-look at what he did to Humberto Soto (who many felt was the best 130 pounder in the world). However, Bob Arum is playing the whole "Its not a big enough fight" trick, which is bogus because he's mad that Guzman beat his fighter (Soto). So it probably won't happen, at least for a while because Manny's got Marquez, and if he beats him possibly David Diaz, or De La Hoya next, and Guzman's next fight is against Alex Arthur.

DeLa Hoya/Pacquiao is an impossibility, the previous answer is right, Oscar is simply too big. As for Arum protecting Pacqiao, of course Bob is protecting Manny, after the Marquez fight, Manny needs protection, he is vulnerable. It's only a matter of time before somebody finishes what Marquez started and exposes Manny further.

Oh no Joan Guzman is the real deal..... he has been dominating guys in the ring and what he did to Humberto Soto, who was also as dominating, was scary......i think he is just tired of the Media Putting Manny on top as the best when he hasnt fought anyone but retiring legends well past their prime..... Guzman knows they Dont Want to fight him so now he is pressuring StacheMan like Marquez did to get a fight or Manny may call Julio Cesar Chavez next..... Mannys at a point where everyone is going to call him out like Guzman, Juan Diaz and Edwin Valero so why he is choosing to fight David Diaz(who has been silent) is beyond bizarre and sounds like he may be ducking people like Mayweather ...Manny should take Arums advise and stay away from young fighters like Guzman because it would be embarrasing .....Guzman late round KO

I think a fight between Pacquiao and De La Hoya would be a mis-match. De La Hoya would be a heavy favorite over a smaller heavier Pacquiao. In order for Oscar to gain his respect back he needs to KO a top contender and the likes of Mayorga doesn't count.
As far as Guzman goes he can beat either Pacquiao or Marquez. What about a match with Guzman vs Juan Diaz ? That would be one worth watching.

Pacquiao has a reputation of beating Mexican fighters and Mexico has a proud and rich history of excellent fighters so ofcourse there are guys from there trying to get a piece of him. I don't beleive the Oscar vs. manny thing because Manny has never even fought in the weight, so that's unfair to have to go up that much in weight and then have to fight a guy like oscar even though is over the hill he is an all time great. So i don;t believe it.
