In Outlook 2000, can I make a rule to filter multiple words like "conference AND room" instead of OR?

In Microsoft Outlook 2000, rules can be created to filter messages containing fixed terms like "conference" or "conference room" or "editorial conference room", but I don't know how to specify that I want to filter messages with all of those words not necessariliy in that order. I.e. "editorial AND conference AND room" which would match the message text like "conference room for editorial" as well as "editorial room for conference". I tried comma, semi-colon, AND etc but nothing works.

I am very surprised to say that after looking through the message rules setup in Outlook 2003 (I don鈥檛 have 2000) multiple times; I can鈥檛 find a way to do this. But I do have some suggestions:

First: you should consider switching to Mozilla Thunderbird (free, mozilla.com). It will not only do what you want, but it is more secure, has MUCH better spam controls, and can be almost infinitely customized with the hundreds of extensions available to it (along with other advantages). Plus; it is free and you can import your email, address book, and settings from Outlook.

Second: if you would rather not switch, try going to Microsoft. Click on "Get answers from other Office users" at:
http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/contac...
and ask your question there.

Third: if no one can answer your question there, I have figured out a way that will probably work; but it鈥檚 not pretty (or very easy). Keep in mind that I am using Outlook 2003, so you may have to do some things differently. Also, this will only work if you do not use the category function of Outlook. I am using your example (filter editorial AND conference AND room):

To do this, first create a rule that basically says 鈥榠f the message has "editorial" in the body, then assign it to the Business category鈥? Then, create a rule that basically says 鈥榠f the message has "conference" in the body AND is assigned to the Business category, then assign it to the Business and Competition category鈥? Finally, create a rule basically saying 鈥榠f the message has "room" in the body AND is assigned to the Business and Competition category, then flag it with red鈥?

As you can see, I am using Outlook鈥檚 ability to use 鈥榓nd鈥?with different types of conditions and with categories. Of course you set the final action to whatever you want (instead of flagging it with red). You can also use different categories--or possibly even use a different condition altogether (instead of using categories). You can set it to look in the subject (or subject and body) for the words, and you can change, add, or delete some words with a few changes (if you want to add any words you have to add a new rule and add a new category); but you have to keep the rules in that order.

I hope this helps!
