Airline club rooms?

can some one tell me the benefits of having a membership with an airlines club room such as the united red carpet is?

ive looked a few airline web sites and all i see that they offer is complimentary soda and juice and wi fi but most of airports have free wi fi anyway and i have no need for a conference room while iam at the airport

Is there more because $300 seems like allot to pay for soda

My parents and I are United 1K members. We get free access to the lounges. We usually go a couple of hours earlier just to relax in the lounges. We don't have to pay since we very frequent fliers.

Now back to the lounges. All of them have bars, televisions, wi-fi(for a small price), and a very nice, relaxing atmosphere.
The bar has free sodas , coffee, and cappuccinos. Alcoholic beverages are at a small price.
Throughout the day they have breakfast pastries and lunch snacks for free.
You can get the newspaper and magazines for free.
Instead of shelling out $300 big ones I say if you are a frequent flier just try to get the miles and then redeem them for access.

$300? British Airways have great lounges; after completing enough mileage it is free, with food, drink, TV, WiFi, sauna, bath and other. Seems United just want to skim you

Most people who use the lounges are elite status members of the airline's frequent flyer program, and don't pay anything to use the lounges. I don't know what the United lounges are like, but I have lounge privileges with Cathay Pacific and their One World partners. Cathay's lounges in Hong Kong are great, with bars, showers, tv, internet, buffet food and hot to order food, newspapers and magazines and ticketing and upgrade services and everything is complimentary. Most airline lounges are just a nice area to relax, with snacks, sandwiches, sodas and almost all offer free booze. $300 seems like a lot to pay, I imagine that's probably only good for one year year, too. Unless you fly a lot, it's not worth it, especially if you only use it a few times. Of course if you fly a lot on United and their partners, you should get free access after awhile anyhow, but for two or three times a year it's definitely not worth buying.
