No voice in conference or IMs : "Not Authorized to Join" message?

Voice works public rooms, and until a week ago was working in conferences & IMs. Suddenly, every time I try to get voice in a conference it tells me "You are not authized to join the conference." Doesn't matter how many times I click on "voice off" and then "voice" again. I can still text chat. I have no voice problems in public chats. I had no problems in conferences until last week, although I had never used conferences much until about two weeks ago when I was invited to several.

I have uninstalled and reinstalled messenger. I use an old version - 5.5 - because it's easier on my laptop. I am dial-up via AOL. When this problem arose, I downloaded and tested 8.0beta and it had the same problem, so I reinstalled 5.5. This problem occurs on any screenname I log into. I've been booted recently, but I don't think it has anything to do with the problem.

If anyone can help I'd really appreciate it. No one else seems to know why this started happening.

Yahoo have problems from last night, and some contries are still having the problem, so please wait for Y! to fix the problem.
