What do you do when........your boss.....???

Ok, I was put into a situation the other day with some of my co-workers and my boss. This is what happened:

As well as being known as being the youngest of the group, I am also known as the clown at work. I dont mean that I cut up at work, but I do make everyone laugh from time to time. Well the other day I had just gotten out of a meeting with my boss and my team members. My team stuck behind and my boss left the conference room for a phone call. When he had left, everyone was laughing at his presentation, because he's not the best public speaker. You could say that he's a George W. Bush when it comes to public speaking. Well of course I'm gonna say something funny about it, too. About the time that I did, my boss walks around the corner and back into the room and says, "Well I guess that you'll be hosting our next meeting then," and walks back out...

My question is, what do I do now? Do i need to go see him and try to appologize about the other day? or just let it go?

Let me point out, also, that he was talking to me whenever he said that about hosting the next presentation...
So I know that I'll be doing that.... =(

You need to apologize to him in front of all of the people that were in that meeting. That way, it shows that you do respect him and were just having a little fun that went too far. It is important that you do this with everyone present for it to be resolved. While I'm sure the boss has a sense of humor, your open comments have undermined his authority and his ability to maintain the respect of his employees.

If you do not have a meeting planned for today, then you should go and apologize to him right away. Don't let this linger and get further out of control where bad sentiment is able to build. If you do apologize to him today, you will need to back it up by doing so again in the next meeting.
He's just like you and is probably hurt by the statement you made. How would you feel if that was you who walked back into the room? Make it right and go apologize to him.

Ho boy ho boy.. you are in deep sh*t. OMG, you did what to your boss? You turned him into the laughing stock. Girl, I got to hand it to you. You have b*lls of steel.

No backing out for you. Present what he asked you to present and make it a point TO MAKE FUN OF YOURSELF.

Look, just go back to him and tell him ya'll were discussing the meeting and your sorry about any comments he might have heard and that you'd gladly clear it up with him after work. Flash him a smile, a wink, and maybe flash a little boob too. He'll get the picture. After work, go on in there and don't even talk to him .. just go straight behind his desk, drop to your knees and start unbuckling his pants. Take it from there ... it will be quite a treat for the man you made fun of, and who knows ... you might like it yourself. The boss is the boss ... Bottom Line ... you might want to make him as happy as possible. Oh yeah ... make sure you record the office sex too ... that way you never have to worry about losing your job.

yes I think you should apologise, if you can try to explain in the nicest way possible that you do have respect for him/her and you were only poking fun at this particular presentation. stick to making fun of co-workers only next time, most people including managers are incredibly insecure

If the situation worries you, I would talk to him about it in private passing. When you see him in the hallway, or something. Ask him if you made him mad. Tell him that you didn't mean any disrespect. That you were sorry. Leave it at that. If your boss is anything like my boss, he talks behind ppls back as well. Bosses are human too.

This is a good chance to do a presentation. Anyway you are the clown of the team, so if your presentation is not good still fine, because a clown always make people laugh. Just happen your presentation did well then this prove that a clown also can do a presentation. What about those that can talk only?

Ouch...you got caught making fun of the boss, and that's not always kosher. We've all done it and sometimes some of us get caught. Its happened to me. So here's what you do...you host the next meeting and impress him (and your coworkers) with your ability to roll with the punch. You could apologize to him in private for making light of his speaking style and say that you would appreciate the chance to host the next meeting. Then go ahead and host it. Public speaking is the all-around #1 fear of most people and he may just let you try it as a lesson. Step up to the plate and hit a homer. You'll both come away from this impressed with each other. Next time, always assume there are other ears listening when you think you have privacy. And be very skeptical when it comes to advice concerning sexual entrapment.
