JEEZ!!! How do you tell a co-worker that the lunch they pack smells too damn much!?

Nothing like the strong smell of seafood and garlic. We're in a small conference room which compounds the problem.

Leaving the room is not an option sometimes and asking nicely probably won't work with this person.

PS - I love seafood...but I'm sure most people don't like an overbearing fishy smell.

LEave a note on their desk when they are away. Have other co-workers do the same. Or, you could bring a smelly lunch yourself and intentionally have some of your co-workers make fun of you -- LOUDLY-- and casually work it in about how your are not the only one brings smelly crap to work..! Hope this helps!

just eat it

ummmmm just say how you feel in a nice way no sense in beating around the bush!

COUNTERATTACK!

Bring in a can of saurkraut..microwave it for ten minutes and see what the room smells like then!

I would be like "wow that is one strong oder!! What are you eating?" and you can say it either with disgust but not rude like or pleasantly sarcastic...

Just be honest, tell the person that the smell of their lunch upsets you. Maybe suggest that they bring those kinds of foods when you are not in a small space.

You can start by saying, humm.. i don't like fish. Do you? But you everybody can't like what you like....

You walk over, open your mouth and form the words, "Your lunch is making me throw up in my mouth a little bit every 5 seconds. Please bring something that doesn't smell like the inside of a cat's asshole. Thanks."

oooooo that's a tough one.

I'm not about being subtle, so I'd bring in a can of air freshener and make a point of spraying it (away from food of course). Or you could always put a clothes pin on your nose. Or get some stick-ups and put them out in the open.

Again, I never said I was subtle. When being nice and polite won't do.....use a sledgehammer!

Sometime before lunch, sneak into the kitchen (use lookouts if possible) Take their lunch and either throw it in the dumpster or hide it until the day is over and then put it in the ceiling tiles above the persons desk once everyone else is gone

Leave a note anonymously on their desk telling them that due to the small office, garlic and strong smelling foods is just too much for all other workers to bear. If you could please tone back your foods that are very aromas.

That way YOU don't have to put your name to the note.

Good luck to you!

bring a stinky one of your own.

This is a universal problem that you can't avoid unless you work completely alone. Say something like "That smells like cat food" and then move on to something else. Be grateful that your day with these #@*%tards is HALF-over.

P. S. They already KNOW that their food stinks. A "plump" (read: fat) woman at my office once confided to me that she intentionally burns her popcorn so nobody will ask her to share. There are just some people who are disproportionately concerned with their own personal circumstances! Try as you might, you'll never get through to them.
