Who decides the list of hurricane names each year?

I mean is there like a panel of people who get together in a secret location conference room and come up with the list of names for hurricanes or what?

It is some tall guy named Freddy and a lady named Panoply's.

i wish i knew....so that i can give some better names to those hurricanes
i'd name them:
hurricane yoda
hurricane yoshi
hurricane spongebob
hurricane billy bob
so on and so forth

Yep, and they all work for the National Weather Service as meteorologists, etc. I think they started with the A's first...but I'm not sure HOW they come up with the names, but I think you hit the nail on the head with how they meet to do it. Call your local news station's weather dept. They can probably tell you the true answer...I'm just guessing, but you're probably right.

Good question so why don't we have a hurricane called knuckles,because I can strip a Church roof of its lead faster than lightning.
