Do you find martial arts training addictive?

I get jittery after, 3 days out of the dojo and am happy it's time for training again.
I find myself doing weird things during the day - like crushing coke cans with my fingers to practice the two finger grip.
If I'm falling asleep at work, I sometimes go to the conference room and practice a few stances and footwork to snap me out of it.
I keep the "proper posture" while opening doors to strengthen the feeling of unbendable arm.
Sometimes, I make sure nobody is looking and I practice a couple of rolls on the floor.

I'm not the only one who does this am I? Or am I irretrievably weird?

No more weird than;
- imagining what you could have done when you shook someones hand
- swinging a golfclub like a jo when no one is looking
- swooshing through a crowd of people without touching anyone

Sure you're weird! Welcome to the group!

I always find it addicting.

For me competetion is also addicting, I miss truly testing myself against someone, or the release I get when the adrenaline hits and it's time to fight. It's like bungee cord jumping, or skydiving, or anything like that. A huge rush.

When I am injured I can hardly stand it, I go to the dojo and talk with my friends, help out people as I can to learn techniques but I itch the whole time when I am watching people spar.

I have been doing it for years now, and I still spend a good portion of the day thinking about it in my head. Going over past fights, or past situations. Thinking about new moves, or openings for moves.

It is an awesome feeling, and it is something I am so glad for. Martial Arts changed my life, and hell yes it is addicting, you stick with it because of the love for it, otherwise why bother doing it?

I't like a drug, even if I'm dead tired I have to work out, if I don't I feel guilty, sick or something.

When I'm fallin asleep at work I do push ups, and i squeeze my hand grip constantly to strenghten my fingers (I type all day, my fingers show it)

You are not alone feeling like this.

It can be absolutly addictive. There is nothing wrong or weird about pouring your heart and soul into something that will make you a better person.

yes i find it extremely addictive. ive been practicin martial arts for 8 years and i LOVE IT!. i love to practice for hours on end until im exhuasted! i love to test my limmets and see how fari can go. to perfect every mistake. id even do more if my body could take it

Yes, it's very addicting now that I finally found a "real" martial arts school. Plus with the UFC, World Combat League, Fight Girls and numerous other fight leagues and tv shows, it's no wonder I get excited go to class. I'm always trying to push myself further than the class before. My addiction includes doing combinations at work when no one is looking and only buying clothes I can do karate in.

Training is certainly addictive, and I do it like it was. For periods of month and sometimes years I might train every day for 3 or 4 hours a day, but then take a month off and not touch the stuff.

extremely. I cant stand to miss a class. I feel so guilty when I don't go. Its got to the point where if I'm at work and I'm not doing anything I'll just get into one of the stances or work on my balance by seeing how long i can hold my leg up in a side kick or something. My coworker used to think it was weird but she's gotten used to it now!!! She even tries to do it too. You get such an adrenaline rush and i think that's what makes it addictive for me. That and Ive got my own little group that I hang out with at the dojang.

I am a former black belt and I HATE martial arts now. It is a rip off.
I do though practicing my moves when i get into fights.. its fun but since you just started you will do wierd things to think your getting tougher (not) ..
