Did you read about the drama in the California assembly?

Democrats firmly control the California legislature and are used to putting through any law they want. They could have done it this time, but apparently weren't prepared to have the Republicans shine a light on what they were doing, and in an election year.

"The rancorous national debate over illegal immigration spilled into the California Assembly on Tuesday as Democrats yanked an immigration resolution after a testy, partisan exchange that drew an outburst from Speaker Fabian Nu帽ez.

The Los Angeles Democrat emerged from his office to silence Republican critics who were lambasting the non-binding resolution.

``We're pulling the bill. You've got a problem with that?'' he asked before uttering an expletive about Republican nitpicking and leaving the chamber, slamming the door that joins the Assembly to his conference room.

Democrats wanted a vote on a non-binding resolution urging Congress to pass immigration reform. It called upon President Bush and Congress to reject ``mean-spirited'' and extreme immigration laws, referring to a House bill that called, in part, for making it a felony to be in the country illegally."

(The funny thing about the 'criminalization' in the US House bill, of course, is that it is already a crime, just not a felony (unless you come back illegally after a deportation order). The Republicans in the House tried to change the bill from a felony to a misdemeanor, and the Democrats voted down the amendment.)

Fabian Nu帽ez seems like a little baby.

I don't know why they think it's "mean-spirited" to deport illegals? Is it "mean-spirited" to put criminals in jail? It's the same principle. If you can't follow society's rules, you will be removed from society.

That's not unusual behavior from the political arena on the left coast. You know, the state that has a womanizer movie star as Governor. Yes, I'm allowed to criticize CA, I worked for the state for 32 years.

Just for the record, the whole damn state of California is very often completely off the chart when comes to implementing and interpreting the law. Their courts and judges are always making the news with some *** nine declaration or verdict. And politically - well, we won't go there.
California has a serious illegal immigration concern and it only proves my point that the assembly can't even debate the issue in a civil manner, let alone initiate ideas and proposals which might actually lead to solutions.

California (the state that brought you Charles Manson) has always been wierd anyhow.
