Snacks for meeting?

My boss has invited a client down to our office tmr around 3pm for a presentation. For the first time, he has asked for me to help prepare drinks and snacks for the 5 people who will be in the conference room. I would really appreciate some suggestions on what snacks would be appropriate in this case. Thanks a million! :)

Gourmet cookies from an excellent local bakery. Bananas and apples. Good granola bars or power bars. Cheese nips or packets of Goldfish or Chex Mix or Trail Mix. Depending on the crowd, you can throw in candy bars or skittles. The key to food that people will eat in that environment is simple. Something that you can grab with a napkin and eat with their fingers, no plates, no forks, etc. So they can eat without eating. True snacks. I know it sounds odd, but this is what people really want.

Nobody ever eats the fruit trays and veggie platters for a reason. I have been to LOTS of meetings. I have ordered the food, and I have had the food ordered for me.

Even if they don't want to eat during the presentation, if you get super yummy cookies, people will grab them as they chat afterward, on the way out, etc.

Good drinks are bottled water and cold canned soda, both diet and regular. You can have ice and cups available (this is nice), but people will be more comfortable if they can grab a chilled bottle or can to sit down with.

I know that super healthy food is "in", but your boss will be more impressed if the food is super tasty.

Veggies and a lo-cal dip is always good.

Cheese and crackers, grapes and strawberries, and a veggie tray, that's it, get some waters and juices.

Just go to a deli and get like cheese and crakers water etc etc that is a odd time like after lunch before dinner.Keep it light.

The conferences I have been to have had a fruit platter, cheese and crackers and a few have had chocolate muffins, but hardly anyone touched them. Always have glasses with a jug of water, not tap. They've also had little bowls of mints.

coffee, juice water, cookies, donuts, finger sandwich, should do the trick. Good Luck.

fruits and crackers and stuff

Maybe a tray of summer sauage and cheese served with crackers.

For those who like a sugar pick me up, nice artisan cookies are good. Perhaps three types. Not from a box, they should be from a bakery. Two with chocolate, one not? Alternately, little one bite fruit tarts are attractive and inexpensive. (Whole foods has nice ones.) Whole foods also has freshly baked chocolate chip cookie sandwiches (with milk choc in the middle) that have been a big hit in my office.

Fruit is also nice. Citrus and berries hold up best and add color.

More informally, a white cheddar popcorn, pretzels, and/or nice quality corn chips in individual cups is nice. No dip. (Do not make people stick their hands in the same bowl; that's unsanitary. Put each portion in its own cup and each person takes 1 cup.)

For drinks: coffee, tea, sodas and chilled bottled water with little limes.

Have napkins and little plates, and have nice individually wrapped mints too. Anyone eating chocolate and coffee will want a mint.

It's afternoon tea time, so you can't really go wrong with a few very small cakes and pastries. If you're serving alcohol, however, forget the cakes - go with a cheese platter.

Yeah I agree... just stop by a catering place or deli. They probably prepare platters for meetings all the time. Not too much though... because the people (probably) aren't going to stuff their faces.

Raw vegetables and dip are good for that time of day. Fresh fruit in bite sized portions.
Whole grain bagels and spreads are also a popular food in the afternoon, as well as the morning.
Bottled water is a must and coffee. Maybe some flavored seltzer water as well. I always try to keep it possible for people to have healthy choices.

It depends a lot on what the presentation is and the type of people who will attend, also the time of day. 3:00 p.m. is into cocktail time for some, still lunch time for others.

Anything from popcorn to martinis could be appropriate.

Water cress sandwiches crowd? Religious? Porn merchants? Heavy construction types? Politicians?

You don't want to offend any religious beliefs etc.

Bruschetta and soft drinks, coffee and sweets are probably ok for most folks.

You could have a kosher vegan and somebody who likes pickled raw pork in the same crowd.

I would get two 12 packs of beer. One should be light beer and one should be regular. For food, a couple of bags of chips should suffice. Make sure the beer is chilled to 50 degrees. As for the chips, you can just throw the bags on the table and let people help themselves.

Hope this helps.

I think it is really weird that people feel the need to feed other people at work. What is that....?

A cheese and cracker tray along with some cut up fruit like pineapple wedges, strawberry's, grapes. To drink have coffee, some soda both diet and regular and in today's world either a pitcher of water or have some bottled water.
