Waldorf Astoria dresscode?

Managed to blag it into the Waldorf Astoria hotel for a week next month, do they strictly enforce the following rule:

Dress Attire
T-shirts, tank tops, faded jeans, cut-offs, and casual hats are not permitted in the Main Lobby, Park Avenue Lobby, restaurants, or public areas of the hotel. While name badges may be worn by conference attendees in private conference rooms, we request that name badges be removed in the public areas of the hotel. Thank you for your cooperation.

We're paying a lot of money for this, don't want to not be allowed to wear jeans and a tshirt!

Well mostly like you won't be wearing tshirt on the lobby anyway because the weather in NY is very cold! You will probably be covered from toe to head. Second of all, it is a fancy hotel however if you are a guest of the hotel, the staff will not tell you what not to wear... Make sure you are comfortable, however there is not reason to wear for instance "faded jeans", choose a jeans that is not so faded and a hat is very casual anyways. Choose a nice winter hat instead.
The thing in New York is that staff at those hotels treat customers by what they look "at first". They might treat you like you don't belong there, if you are not wearing appropriate. But after finding out you are a customer, their attitude will change - hopefully! just kidding...

you can wear t shirts and jeans. you paid for the room. i've worn t shirts and jeans into more fancier hotels in nyc, waldorf is just pretentious.

That's a pretty strict dress code, so I'm sure it'll be strictly enforced...

Basically, they don't allow casual attire. If slacks and a button-down shirt bother you, the Waldorf is not a good choice...
