Lou Lamoriello?

Why do you criticize him so much??
I know....he fired julien with 3 games remaining and we went out on the second round against ottawa.
But :
Last october he was considered like a God because of his exceptional work, keeping Gionta and Gomez, so we were for another season cup-contenders.
When, in january 2006, he took place behind the bench we had an unbelievable rally of victories..
I think in both cases, Carolina and Ottawa, the devs were simply weaker, Carolina won the cup and Ottawa was really a fantastic team and Conference champion.we weren't lucky!
Now, with Rafalski and Gomez he can't do anything...we must ever sign Parise and Martin...it makes about 8 milllion!
We haven't room for souray ext...
If he signs Souray and then somebody steals Parise with an offer sheet???
I think anyway that he found some good remplacements (without overpay anyone) and a good coach (if Sutter).

Lou is a great GM. Granted he made a couple bad signings coming out of the lockout with McGillis and Mogilny but c'mon that never devestated our team. We won two Atlantic Divsion titles with them on the books. The man has brought 3 Stanley Cups to not exactly 'Hockeytown USA' East Rutherford NJ. If it wasn't for Lamoriello there would be no pride in Devils hockey.
Resigning Gomez and Rafalski at the prices they received would've strapped this team for years. Parise and Zajac are the future of the Newark based Devils, save the money for them. Zubrus, Vishnisky, and Rachunek bring size to this club that we needed last playoffs at a serious discount. This will give Lou the cap room to add at the deadline this season if needed. Flashy moves don't bring success and the Rangers can testify to that.

Souray just signed with the Oilers

I know what you mean. People keep putting him down, but in reality hjes probably one of, if not the best GM in the game. He always puts together a good team, and we never have to deal with the cocky flashy stars that some teams do. When things go right its LOU TO THE RESCUE, when he makes some questionable deals its WHAT THE F!?!?!? The fact is that i cant remember the last deal he made that was truly a bust. Everyone he brings in excels here (for the most part) and really becomes a part of our club. I cant wait to see the new guys, Zubrus, Rachunek, and Vitaly because I can tell these guys are going to excel in the red and black and keep us an elite team.

Lou could have gone out on July 1st and filled our cap room with 2 or three players (gomer and rafalski), but he was smart and waited it out. To tell you the truth, gomer was failing here, he had 13 goals, last season!! 13!!! How do u pay almost 8 mil a season for that? DOnt get me wrong he's good, but just like Souray they are asking for way too much money, more than they are worth. Instead we are goign to sign a few more solid people including Parise (my boy!) and Martin along with some new faces. ALl these people will play in NJ because they want to (and not run to NY with the offer of some big $$$). Lou makes it all happen and let me tell you, its going to be a good season and we wont even be backed up to the wall with cap space either. IN LOU WE TRUST!

I'm a Devils fan, and I can see that while Lou makes some genius moves, he has also been making a lot of bad ones lately. He signed Dan McGillis, Mogilny, Malakhov, none of them played for the team and ate up a HUGE chunk of their salary that the team is only getting past now.

Also, Lou is well known for being an almost Nazi strict owner/GM. Players are prohibited from even having something as trivial as facial hair. What is up with that?

Bottom line, Lou was the game's best GM BEFORE the lockout. Now there are too many restrictions on him and he can't operate the way he does best. Lou is constantly up against the salary cap and yet he doesn't have the type of roster that you would associate with a team having trouble with money.

I think lou is great he has maintained a good team, and signed some good free agents like zubrus to replace gomez and rachunek and vishnevski to replace rafalski. He has also gotten us a much better backup so marty might not have to play as much, I completely agree with you.

i have all the respect in the world for Lou, he has done an amazing job with the terrible situations he has had to face. I trust that Lou will lock up Parise and Martin, and if he doesn't think that is enough, I trust that he will make another move to make his team the best possible team he can put on the ice.

Without a doubt, he is one of the best GM's in the league. They needed the shake up with Julien because they were not scoring and it was a valiant attempt to get the players motivated and playing better. They just ran into a hot team. I questioned the timing but just a little.
I also applaud his hiring of Sutter. He will prove to be a great one.
