What do I do about this obsessed kid in my class?

I am a sixth grade teacher and I have a child in my class who is totally obessed with another other child. I hear that this is an annual thing for her. Each year she pick some to obsess over. She's stole the girl's workbook, gym pants, and project, smothers her with affection , and just does't give her room to breath. The other day I finally had a talk with her and explained that it was totally unacceptable for her steal from her classmates, and asked her to immediatley return anything she had that didn't belong to her. Today , she nonchantly came to class and dumped the stolen items on the girls desk. There was noexplanation or apology. Has anyone seen anything like this? Her parents are not going to help. They don't even attend parent-teacher conferences. What should I do about her?

Try to separate them as much as possible. If this continues, and it sounds as though it will, you should talk to her guidance counselor, and they can discuss the problem with the parents. If it is a big enough issue, and the parents won't do anything about it, the school can set up sessions with a therapist and the therapist can find a solution. If you do not want to get anyone involved try talking to each student and maybe mediate a discussion between them. You never know, lots of problems get fixed this way!!

She needs affection. And becomes obsess with everyone who gives her attention which she confuses with affection., Call Her parents directly talk to them about the severe problem their daughter is having and suggest counseling.

Keep her busy.
Enlist her help whenever and for whatever you can.
You will see a difference.

Please let me know how it is going.
