Did you have any professors as eccentric as some of mine?

I always registered early. Once, I was to take 2 classes starting in January to a Professor Lloyd who died at Xmas. There was little time to replace him. I was at the first class early. The new prof wasn't there, but a janitor was cleaning the room for him. This poor man was nearly a conehead hunchback with perpendicular ears. He was like a bum in the same cheap work pants other janitors wore, but his were dirty and torn, shirt so wrinkled one collar pointed up, and his socks hung over his scuffed shoes and had big holes. The poor guy is retarded, I thought. If Prof Howard took over, he'd run this dirty janitor away. When the bell rang, everyone was watching the door for the new prof. We were all surprised when the new prof turned out to be the shabby "Janitor Plunk". He and Dr. Howard were an "odd couple', i.e. a bum & a stockbroker. When I went to conferences with them, everyone thought Howard and I were the profs. Plunk said he had "an embarassing indigestion problem". Indeed so!

The "Janitor-Professor" was brilliant, while his pompous colleague Dr. Howard did not know 1/10 as much. On the way to a confererence, I asked Howard about something, and he talked a few minutes. Then, Plunk corrected much of what Howard had said. Dad could not believe such a slob as plunk was a professor.

I had a poetry prof who felt everything. He'd walk down the hall touching all the lockers, said he picked our text because the cover felt good to him. I stayed out of reach!

I've had some odd ones, but not to that extent.

I guess it just goes that show that one truly cannot judge a book by its cover.

?

hahahaa! aw! i had a professor who was quite idiotic. he couldn't speak english very well so everything that came out of his mouth sounded sex-related. for example he would pronounce "organism" as "orgaaansm" and "test tube" as "teste tube". nyhow. he had long greasy hair, strange pointd eyebrows, and wore oddly colourful ties which did not match his personality very well as he was quite gloomy and reminded me of professor snape from harry potter. he always had a stash of jellybeans which he would throw at people who he thought were being loud despite the fact that most of them weren't talking and were simply flipping pages in their notebooks.he refused to take any suggestions from anyone and laughed at his own pathetic jokes. he always wore the same bright-red shoes, tweed, and strangely striped pants (not even joking) and occasionally an old english-man's hat.

My Chemistry 101 prof wore primary colors and frequently they clashed. His favorite was a primary red shirt and blue tie.
When you looked away from him you could sometimes see the image of his shirt and tie for several seconds. It was extremely distracting at his lectures. I was a night student and his lectures were frequently at 8PM to 10PM after a full days work and a drive to school in heavy traffic.
Where he got his cloths I don't know. He also wore bright green and yellow frequently. We begged him to stop wearing the red shirt and blue tie so he started wearing red shirt and blue pants. He later admitted it never bothered him he was color blind.
Other than that he was a great teacher always available to help.
Other than wacky cloths his lectures were great and lively before fancy overhead projectors and computers.
