What are your favourite classical songs?

I know a lot of people don't like classical music but there are some really great songs if you actually listen. I encourage anyone to listen to these, they are amazing. They are also some of the most famous, most recognizable pieces for good reason. Please listen!

My favourites are:
"La Gazza Ladra"-Rossini (used in A Clockwork Orange...one of the greatest movies)
"The Barber Of Seville"-Rossini (one of the most recognized classical pieces)
William Tell-Rossini
Toccata and Fugue-Bach
Moonlight Sonata-Beethoven
9th Symphony-Beethoven (Ode To Joy)
The Blue Danube-Strauss II (really really well known to anyone and it was used in 2001: A Space Odyssey)
Sprach Zarathustra (used in commercials like the rogers commercials)
Eine Kleine Nachtmusik-Mozart
Anvil Chorus-Pavarotti (used in the looney tunes cartoons and one of the characters gets hit with anvils but I can't find the clip, I know I've seen it before though)

If anyone knows any other good classical songs, list them!

Oh! Every piece you have named I adore! And I see that you are also a Stanley Kubrick fan! Even better!

I adore classical music, especially the grand orchestral pieces that just take you away to the depths of your mind!

Right now, I am really lovin the Peer Gynt Suite from Grieg...and I also really love a piece from a famous opera whose name escapes me at the moment...the piece is called "Nuna des... or dorma" or something like that, it is the "title" piece for a famous opera (I believe the piece is in Italian).

I too wish more people gave classical music a try, but I am constantly shocked by my friends who are just now telling me that they too love to listen to classical music every now and them.

***A Clockwork Orange is my all-time favorite movie...of all!***

I love the Schumann Piano concerto with all my heart.

The Chopin ballades come to mind, especially number 4, its so epic!

Liszt etude transcendental number 12 is darn awesome.

Chopin's Polonaise Fantasie is glorious and gorgeous.

Schumann's first sonata is great too.

Rachmaninoff's first sonata is great too :]

Now my favorite song has to be Schubert's Fantasie In F minor for Four Hands. It is awesome! So sophisticated and so beautiful.

There's Brahms's first Rhapsody, that's a darn good song.

Paganini's La Campanella concerto is great.

Grieg's sonatas for violin are beautiful.

Oh yeah, and Grieg's Ballade in the form of Variations is awesome too. Its so obscure though.

All of Chopin's Nocturnes, Etudes, Polonaises, Concertos, Scherzos, his Barcarolle, Fantasie in F minor, EVERYTHING BY HIM I LOVE!!! What can I say, I'm a Chopin geek. :]

If you like organ music, you haven't lived until you've heard the following:

Charles Marie-Widor: "Toccata" from his 5th Organ Symphony.

This for me, is the most glorious piece of organ music ever written.

There are over 20 I think renditions of it on You Tube; you should really listen to it.

Alberich

these are all great songs.

But did you try the marriage of figaro by Mozart, or even his Requiem? or Don Giovanni? I also liked Guiseppe Verdi's Requiem, Or Maurice Durufl茅's requiem. how about Carl Orff's Carmina Burana?

here is a good video of Tocatta and fugue.

Allegri - Miserere
Victoria - Officium Deffunctorum
Mozart - Requiem
G.Gabrieli - sonata 21 per 3 violini
Bartok - hungarian folk songs
