Thesis help!! commercial gyms are better than settin up a home gym...?

arugments : safety, motivation, and no loss of living space...

what other factors result in space in gyms.
1. equipemtns: bulk, large amount os spafe for homes
2. gyms have wide variety of large machines
3.travellers: can go to a gym instead of setting up a home gym
4. facilities : for most that can't accomodate saunas or steam rooms.

I always preferred a commercial gym, but here's my pros and cons...
pro...
...much more specialized equipment, and usually a gym to shoot hoops for a change of pace.
...the social atmosphere is immeasurable, people to chat with, usually some eye candy wandering around, and you can also observe other forms and sequences of reps and specific excercises.
...going to a gym gets you away from all of the things that distract us at home ie: the computer, kids, spouse, tv, even the phone. You can always lock your cell in the locker to stay focused.
...as you mentioned, you don't need to create a special environment at home, no need to steal space, if you even have it to steal.

cons...
...well, you do have to get out and go
...some folks are intimidated, or embarrassed to get in front of others while out of shape, or to show off their lack of experience with excercise equipment, and some just don't like to be ogled.
...some fear catching something contagious - athletes foot, or some germ for example.

In my opinion, the best situation is a gym membership and a stand-alone machine in a corner at home for all of a person's moods and situations.

possibly cheaper to join a gym, may have one on one sessions w/ trainer, find a buddy to join with (for motivation help)

The Home Gym is ok if your rich and can hire some motivationals to get you useing it.
For the avreage person, poor like us, a ready set up gym is better, $350 a year and you are surrounded by other motivated people, or $10,000 in equipment that only one is going to use.
