Air Travels Affect on the Whether & The Atmospher?

I recently read that they will potentially have a commercial supersonic aircraft available in 2012..."FUNNOTE-ironnically the same year the myan calander ends." we have been flying through space and through & above our atmospher. The Butterfly affect states that if the butterfly flaps its wings in Africa you get rain instead of sunshine. What chaos are we causing through air travel and by the speed at which we all live our lives on the ground as well? Is Space Travel worse 4 our atmospher then the toxins we put into the air? Does poking a small exit/entrance hole like a very small peircing of a balloon cause atmospher loss? These are my thoughts and my questions. What do you think?

The size of our planet and the magnetic field the molten core creates keeps the atmosphere around us. Air travel does cause global "dimming" though. Water particals are tiny spheres that reflect sunlight back out into space. Jet streams (those white trails that remain after a plane passes) are 3-5 dirt spheres stuck together coated with water, which reflects many times more sunlight back out into space. as the plane passes its basically converting the single sphere reflection into multisphere reflection. Less sunlight hitting the Earth means less water evaporation and a cooling off of the planet. This is a counter effect to global warming.

There is no membrane holding in the atmosphere to poke a hole through. The atmosphere doesn't have a "top;" it just gets thinner and thinner all the way up.

Air travel isn't significantly more polluting than other modes of transportation.

The "Butterfly Effect" simply means that it is impossible to predict the weather next week, because it depends on too many factors. Rain or shine in Africa next week may depend on whether a butterfly flaps its wings today, but wingflapping is not going to move the weather out of its established patterns. It makes no difference how many butterflies flap their wings, they are not going to cause hurricanes in the arctic.

The Butterfly Effect does not literally mean that if a butterfly flaps its wings in Tokyo the weather will actually change in Chicago. It DOES say that sometimes small inputs can have chaotic effects; but usually they don't. If they do, those effects -- being chaotic -- will by definition be unpredictable.

Nobody will have a commercial supersonic aircraft in service in 2012. Maybe a first flight, but the first flight of the Concorde was in 1968 and commercial service did not start until nine years later.

And the Mayan calendar is fundamentally meaningless, because it's not scientific: it makes no testable predictions other than the factually baseless "the world will end in 2012". (How many other religions have predicted the end of the world already?) There is *no* reason to think anything special will happen on the date that this calendar ends. That, incidentally, is the opinion of Richard Feynman, a man who was far, far smarter than any of us, who occupied his spare time translating Mayan heiroglyphs (as well as safecracking and playing practical jokes).

That is called responsible thinking,friend!We ought to be aware of th impact of our actions as we meddle with nature.It is the right thing to do. But all the same, you should not become terribly afraid that you might do some thing wrong and end up doing nothing. That way there would be no progress. Coming to Aviation, It is not immediately likely that there will be aswarm of supersonic jets flying around the world in such large numbers concurrently and create upsets in the atmosphere in colossal scale. For one thing, such Crafts are prohibitively costly to make and take years for construction
Secondly, the emergence of such Mass transport vehicles will disperse the present long haul aircrats to the interior routes and the biggies will be only on the Trunk routes.

The more immediate danger is from the mass use of Computers and other electro magnetic devices. Very little studies have taken place on this aspect. The world is witnessing massive expansion of Radiological and Ultra sound and other investigative devices , and by the time the harmful effects of these devices are documented, lots of precious lives would have been lost. Remember how X-Ray diagnosis of pregnant women was being carried on with an air of confidence that it was safe to do so? It was only after thousands of innocent children got maimed or brain-damaged that rstrictions have now been imposed.
