Do cats usually get along with others?!?

I've had my cat for about 6 months and she's only about 7 or 8 months old.. she's always been by herself but i feel bad when i leave the house.. i feel like she gets lonely.. call me crazy but it makes me feel bad.. i'm just wondering if she would be jealous of another cat coming into the house? Or do cats handle it okay? I've always only had one at a time.. never more.. helllpppp!

I recently added another cat to my home. Cats do like to be by themselves, however another cat makes sure they are not lonely. You have to introduce them correctly though! Sneak the new cat in and close it off in an extra bedroom. The cats will then sniff and paw at each other for a while. Another trick is to rub a towel on your new cat and then rub the same cloth on your first cat to get that scent on it. Also putting a cloth under your first cat's food bowl with the new cat's scent works as well. I would recommend getting a book about introducing two cats to each other, because your current cat is the prince/princess of the home! Otherwise cats are fine by themselves! They are naturally independent animals! Don't worry, your cat is fine!

It totally depends on the cat.

I have had experience with this. Some cats could care less. Others go completely nuts and never recover.
If you do get a new cat, you have to introduce them properly. Do not just bring the new one in and throw them together. Put the new one in a room and let the other one smell it under the door. If it reacts ok, introduce them but don't leave them unattended. If your cat growls, hisses, or gets mad - give it some time. It might take days for her to be ok with it. One of my cats took 5 months to stop freaking out at a male cat we brought in. It's been 1.5 years and she still totally hates him but at least she lets him in the same room as her now. Good Luck!

Most cats are very independent and very well adjusted
to being alone
But I think it's a great idea,.
if you can afford to have them both spayed/neutered
You seem to feel that your cat would be happier with the company,
and you find a compatible companion
and you can handle two little terrors chasing one another around , creating havoc while your sleeping, twice as much poop to scoop......
Go for it

If you thought you sound crazy, just hear my response: depends on your cat's personality.

My cat and my friend's get along great, the neighbor cat hates my cat tho, she'll hiss! Cats can be terrtorial but can also be social so it depends on his/her personality.

Try it out one day! (Prolly before you get a new one to add)

yes they do although male cats are more friendlier and get along with other cats better while females are more independant and get defensive of their owners and house.

i think if you get another cat get a male and make sure you desex them.

i have a female and recently got a male, she mothers it, its really cute because they cuddle and she cleans him!!

goodluck

cats all have different personalities.

Some like the company of other cats, while some
of them hate it. you will have to find out yourself..

If you know anyone who has a cat i would suggest
you maybe bring it to your house and see how your cat
interacts with it. That way you will know for sure..

Good luck.

Some cats need time to get used to other cats. Some other wants companion and others wants t be by them selves.

Yes.
The previous answers say it pretty well.
Do get another cat.
