Can I get in trouble for leaving the state on probation without my travel permit? if one was issued?

I just started probation this month (may 1st) and last night I found out we had a family emergency out of state. I haven't even met with my probation officer so I didn't know how to handle things, but I called anyway and after 2 hours finally got in touch with her. She told me that she would leave my travel permit at the front desk of the probation office, but by the time I got up there it was closed and noone answered the door. I spoke to someone outside who said she was one of the councellors and she told me that she *thought* I would be ok as long as I called my officer once I got here. The problem with that is that the office apparently closes on weekends and because I haven't met with my officer yet, I don't have a private number. When I call the office there is a recording but no option to leave a message or anything.

My q is this: Is it breaking my probation to be out of state without my permit? I was issued one (she left it at the front desk) but it's not with me...

I am already out of the state because she said I could go. I explained to her that my uncle was in the hospital and she even said that if I needed to stay past wednesday she could fax me another permit. Since the office won't be open until tuesday I didn't really have the option to wait... As it stands it looks like I may have to come back here during the week for a funeral, and I'm wondering if A.) I will get in trouble and possibly get my probation revoked, and B.) If I will have problems getting back here for the funeral.

Simply put, wait to hear from your probation officer for instructions. Leave as much information to notify the probation officer about where you are and where you can be reached since you say that you have not met your probation officer yet.

Do not take it upon yourself to interpret anything one way or the other. Do not leave the state. Stay put.

What emergency could possibly be so important that they would need a criminal to come. Stay home and play with yourself, pick your nose, pick your butt, and all the other things retards like you do.

Yes, you are breaking the terms of your probation. However, I at one point in time was also on probation and I had an emergency outside of the state. It was the weekend so I just went without permission. The only way you can get in trouble is if you are pulled over for a traffic violation or you know, the law gets you for something. They cannot keep complete tabs on every single person on probation...That would be insane. Bascially it comes down to this.....Ask yourself....Is is worth the risk of getting into more trouble if caught out of state? Odds are that you won't get caught but their is the small 1 percent chance that you will. If out of state You must have the permission slip on you....doesn't matter if the office was closed and that you haven't yet seen your probation officer. They ISSUE that permit so that you can have it on you in case youre stopped by law enforcement. Your choice ....Risk it or don't.....I did but nothing ever happened. But I would be leary....You have informed your probation officer and he wrote out the pass but come Monday they will know you didn't pick it up, Doesn't matter....It was Your fault for not getting to the office in time to get it. Sry about your family emergency.
