Is Joe Morgan the Dodger's manager?

because he is lecturing Jeff Kent and the young Dodgers like he is the manager. Why doesn't Morgan stick to calling the game and let the Dodgers handle their clubhouse. also does Peter Gammons mention the Red Sox every time they ask him a question.

Joe Morgan, like Tim McCarver, is a self-absorbed windbag who thinks he knows more about the game than he actually does. The fact that Morgan is a HOFer only makes him more insufferable than McCarver.
Listen carefully to Morgan when he speaks. He will make a point and then repeat it incessantly. He talks a lot but says very little.
Peter Gammons is a former baseball writer who found employment with ESPN in the late 1980s. Keeping with their corporate policy he is required to mention Boston-area teams whenever he gives one his useless opinions and since he covers baseball the Red Sucks are that team.

People who take anything Morgan or Gammons has to say seriously can usually be found frolicking with small, furry animals in a field of poppies..

I can't believe anyone is defending Joe Morgan - simply put, the man is a moron. He was a great player, but he has no idea what he's talking about when it comes to the modern game. He admits to not even actively following the current game, and watches very few games besides the ones he broadcasts. The type of drivel he's spouting tonight is typical, and he does so because he believes that he's smarter than most managers.

As for Gammons, he's obviously biased but at least he knows what he's talking about. I can live with all the Sox talk because most of what he says is of value.

Really? Is he standing in front of Jeff Kent and the other Dodgers and actually lecturing them? Or is he providing the color commentary for a game in which the Dodgers are involved. Because if it is the latter, providing his analysis and opinion is HIS JOB!!!

And the Dodgers haven't exactly been setting the world on fire of late. So any opinion as to how to make them better should be welcome.

i personally like the lecturing of Jeff Kent, the man that has accomplished what Joe never did as an offensive player, the record for home runs by a second baseman although Joe accomplished a lot as a clutch hitter for Cincinnati and Huston but i think he still lags behind Kent in rbi's, but Jon miller the, trinket vendor, and Joe make a helluva lot better broadcast team than most other networks, exact Jon get's sickenly enamored over mediocre players who show a spurt in offensive categories, must be all those years at candlestick park, talk about depression!

No, he's not the manager, although he is telling them alot about how to play the game. I have lost all respect for Joe Morgan tonight, he dropped from my list from being a well-respected HOF'er to scraping the bottom of the barrel. I won't discuss why on Y/A, but I wish he would just stop talking. RR

First, Morgan is a very good announcer. Very knowledgeable.As good as he was as an All Star. Which he is. Read his book- "Long Balls, No Strikes- Joe Morgan."

Second, Gammons is a nothing. He acts like he's an expert. He never says anything worth knowing. Where they found him, maybe his daddy owned ESPN.

You might think so, that in less that he and Joe Torre have changed jobs, but he regulary does the Sunday Night/afternoon baseball games with John Miller. But I can't answer it, since I am not him, so you might be best asking him this question yourself.

he was agreeing with Jeff Kent, not lecturing him. Kent said modern players are not held to account when they make mistakes and Joe agreed with him...and surprisingly showed some humility in admitting that he DIDN'T know everything when he was called up.

Obviously, he is not. But the man was an amazing player and he's just trying to help out. If I was on any team at all, I'd gladly accept any advice from Joe Freaking Morgan. He's a HOFer!
