My right ear is kinda waxy...and It feels awkward...?

As I said my right ear appears to be waxy all the time no matter how much I clean it. Why??

Today when I woke up, a few minutes later my ear started feeling weird. I don't know how to describe it but it kinda feels awkward. In my right ear there is a tiny bit of less hearing if you know what I mean. What could it be?? Why is this happening?? Is my ear going to be okay???

I want to ask this before I call my doctor just because I don't want it to be something so small I can handle it myself.

I'm 15!!! please help!!!

sorry it's kinda gross....

and btw when I clean my ear with a cutip, it doesn't work...nothing really comes out--but I know that there is wax...

ahhh! I'm freaking out!! please help!!

Usually all Q-tips do is push wax back into the ear canal. Doctors actually recommend that you don't use them nowadays to clean your ears. First, you NEED to go to a doctor regardless if your ear feels funny, just to make sure there are no problems.

You might have scratched the inside of your ear, or have a chunk of wax blocking your eardrum (thus the sense of less hearing). Sometimes having a chunk like that will trap things behind it, like water if you accidentally get some in your ear while showering or swimming, and it can cause a lot of pain or even an infection (a.k.a. Swimmer's Ear).

If that is the case, they will probably want you to use some kind of wax removal drops first, like Deborex (sp?). You just tilt your head, put in the recommended amount of drops in that ear, then gently place a cotton ball in your ear (NOT your ear canal) to prevent the drops from leaking and dripping down your neck...lol. The drops will hopefully loosen the wax enough to where it falls out on it's own, or liquifies and drips out of your ear.

If that doesn't work, as long as they've determined you don't have a scratch or anything ruptured in your ear, they will flush the wax out with water. It doesn't hurt, it actually feels pretty cool (as long as the water is pretty warm), like an ear bath!

Talk to your doctor about things you can do to help reduce the amount of wax in your ears, if you consider it a problem.
