He said "I love you..."?

We've been together for almost 3 months and it is long distance so I find it hard to believe that he loves me...
I left a message saying that I didn't know what was going on but I was confused cause I felt like he was ignoring me etc etc. I gave him an easy out by saying that if he wasn't interested, just let me know so I don't waste my time.
He didn't call back so for my own sanity I sent him a text saying basically the same thing and he texted me back...
"No, Kaylee ilu and I miss you so much." I texted him back "what?" and he texted "I love you." I just asked him to call me so we could talk.
I didn't ask him to say that and I didnt hint at it either. I am completely caught off guard still and I don't know how to handle it. I definitely don't love him but I don't want him to pull away just because he said it and I didn't respond.
What should I do and do you think he meant it?

thats a tough one. i can tell you from experience that even long distance i love yous can be very real. there are some really weirdos out there for sure, but in my case and hopefully yours he meant it. the question is how do you feel? you say you dont love him, so how do you feel then. I think when you answer that question for yourself then you will have your answer of what to do. good luck!

sounds like he was trying to say anything out of desperation to hang on to u. Dump the bum and go out with another goat, it's been 3 months, he'll get over it.

goat as in a goat that makes good cheese and then has the courage to sell his merchandise to tesco. It's always tesco.

lots of people are not great with commitment. maybe you are just a little scared of this. because he caught you off guard. so all of a sudden, he is just wasting your time. but he maybe telling the truth.
but if you dont love him, then it might as well be over.

Just because its a long distance doesn't mean its not true love, i think he means it.

Be cautious.

With some people, the words 'I love you' are too easy to say, and in some cases, they tell every girl they are involved with that they love them.

There are different kinds of love. There is the deep and true love that last over time. Then there is the type of love one has for a sister, or brother.

Some people may even be heard to say of a particular type of soda or potato chips that they just love that brand.

I would not get too emotional at this point in your relationship.

If this person loves you, he either has already done the following, or will shortly do so:

He sends you flowers.

He has bought you jewelry.

He has hinted at a steady relationship.

He has made plans to travel the long distance on a regular time table to date you, take you out to dinner and movie, etc.

There is a difference in long distance relationships.

One type is defined by two people who already have developed an understanding between them, prior to it becoming a long distance relationship.

The other is like yours.

In order for yours to develope into something more than a phone call, telling you that he loves you, he must physically be with you and spend some time with you, on some type of a regular basis.

For instance, if he loves you, he should plan to be with you at least a couple of weekends a month. If he lives so far away that he has to fly, then maybe once a month.
