How can I get one state to transfer probation to another state if they seem unwilling at first? |
I was on probation in Texas for a simple mis. and was following it to the letter. However, I was jobless, living out of my car for two weeks and starving. My family said come home and we will figure it out. I asked the probation officer if we could tranfer, he said no. I told him I had to go home or I would end up living under a bridge somewhere and probably dead in a month or two. His reply was you do what you have to and I will do my job. So I left for Oregon. I have since called Texas twice asking to have it transfered. One call back saying no, I have to come back to Texas. Why are they being so difficult? I am trying to take care of my responsibilities and they refuse to let me. Its like they get off on oppressing people and that is not what the law should be about. I was turned down for a GREAT job simply because texas has this, now probation violation, on my record. What am I suppose to do when I am not being allowed to handle this to my ability? In order to transfer your supervision to Oregon, your Texas PO would have had to send the transfer request through the Interstate Compact... Because you're on probation for a misdemeanor, I can virtually guarantee that Oregon would have rejected supervision... Even though it may seem to be reverse thinking, misdemeanors are nearly impossible to transfer from one state to another (primarily, because there are so many of them), while felonies are much easier... If you got probation, it may have been a "simple misdemeanor" but it was a serious one. They are under no obligation to allow you to move. I guess you have now figured out that crime can cause more than a few problems in your life. What are you going to do if they arrest you for probation violation and put you in jail, in Texas? |
