Sharp Pain, should I be on leave? |
I've had horrible sharp pains in my belly button since 7 weeks. I was even rushed to the hospital. For months no one seemed to know what to call it. I'm now 28 weeks and my doctor has decided to call them "round ligament pain" but everything I've read says its supposed to manifest on the sides of the abdomen. The pains are getting worse the further along I get and I've even broken into tears while at work. It seems to happen more frequently while standing, stooping, or walking (all of which I do for 8 hours a day!). My doctor seems to shrug off my pain, but it's seriously draining my mood and energy. Should I get a second opinion and if it is really is round ligament pain, would it be enough to justify going on early maternity leave? I'm not sure how much longer I can handle it without a serious break down... I've had horrible sharp pains in my belly button since 7 weeks. I was even rushed to the hospital. The ER doctor sent me home without knowing what was causing it. For months no one seemed to know what to call it. Should I get a second opinion and if it really is round ligament pain, would it be enough to justify going on early maternity leave? I'm not sure how much longer I can handle it without a serious break down... Get a second opinion! If this happens when you move it's your muscles ripping. It does hurt. If this happens when your not moving then see another doc. though doctors know things you know your body and it sounds like you need to ease up if you want your baby to be healthy good luck listen to your body Hm, I don't know.... round ligament pain isn't supposed to be so bad that it'd make you cry and it won't be seen as a legitimate reason to stop working (it's a common pregnancy discomfort, not a serious medical issue that would endanger your pregnancy or you). i think its time to switch doctors/\..what did the hosptial say? i think you need to rest, im assuming you had the baby not that long ago. its takes months for your body to fully heal not 6-8 weeks, thats just for when your uterus should go back to normal. but your body still needs plenty of healing and rest! i waited for 7 months to go back to work and i only work 3 days a week. im not straining myself for no one(well cept my lil one). the last thing you want to do is injure yourself more, especially when baby needs you, i think you need to take a break from work and def get a second opinion! Definitely get another opinion! Docs don't know everything and this one sounds like he can't be bothered to take the time to figure it out! # different docs told me I would never have another baby again(endometriosis and PCOS) But here I am 6 week preggers! Take care of yourself and your baby by seeking another opinion(or 3)! You are the only one that knows what your pain feels like and severe pain that sends you to the ER isn't normal and can't be good for either of you! Find a doc that listens and cares! |
