Have you ever had trouble with EARTHLINK DSL?

I am so pissed they asked me for my card number so that they can pay for the shipping and handling for my modem and ended up billing me for my service with the same card numbers ever since then without my permission, and I have called and complained many times. they advertised 50 dollars for DSL and home phone service and ended up trying to charge me for 190 dollars my first month.
I am canceling my service since I have been with them for a year and my contract is up, do you think I should cancel my card as well so they don't keep charging me?

Yeah I went through that with them, they raised my service fees and I called and asked them what was going on and one lady said that it was an area tax and that I should have gotten the letter in the mail that they were raising my fees, I said no I didn't so she said, oh we'll send it again. when I called again and talked to a different operator she said they are under no obligation to inform me of rate increases and I asked her why the previous lady lied. I never received the letter in the mail though. they are horrible!

I had a nightmare DSL experience with Earthlink and don't recommend them for a lack of customer service and technical help.

What I would do is call your credit card company and tell them that you no longer allow or will verify any charges from Earthlink from the cancellation of account date. This will prevent any additional charges from showing up.

You'll also need to check the terms of service with your contract with Earthlink to be certain they violated your agreement. There are set up fees, and other little fees that they pad into starting your account. However, they must tell you they will be charging you these fees up front. If they don't they are in violation of specific laws. (Not sure if it PUC laws or what they are, you'll have to investigate this on your own.)
