Expierimental steering system ford motor co 1965-1970?

Does anyone have any info on an expieremental steering system Ford Motor Co was testing in the mid to late 60's? It was called twist grip steering. I saw one af the actual cars at a bank in Dearborn MI In place of a steering wheel it had two handles (LIKE LUGGAGE GRIPS)coming out of the dashboard spaced about the same width of the normal steering wheels of that era. To turn you would twist in the direction desired to turn THANK YOU

both Ford and Chrysler had them on experimental show cars, but never put into production....

i have never heard of any type of abnormal steering.
