BABY SITTING PROBLEM!!!! what should i do? pleaseee read?

okay so i'm about to start a summer job baby-sitting for a lady with 5 kids.

she called this evening asking how much i would want to be paid, and she said she'd pay anywhere from 250 a week to 300 a week.

i told her 250-275 sounded good because i wanted to be nice.

now that i think about it, i'm only 13 and 5 kids is a LOT, and they're all under the age of 6.

what should i say to her (NICELY!) to let her know i'd like 300 instead?

PLEAAAASE HELP!

extra details....

yes, i am capable of taking care of 5 kids for your information. that's not my question

can yall just answer my question? stop criticizing, please. i am mature enough to handle the kids, please don't underestimate me.

(these are details i had to add when i asked the question about an hour ago)

the agreement wasn't really a long talk. she simply asked how much, and i asked how much she would like to pay. she replied "250-300" and i told her about 275 would be good.
she said "oh okay" and changed the subject.

i'm sure it can be changed... right?

First, let me be clear, if you are up to the challenge that is fantastic, but for your own benefit, please have your parent(s) look into the children left at home law for your state, b/c some states do not allow even children over 16 but under 18 to be in their home alone. Just so you do not get in trouble. Five children can certainly be alot, especially when they are all under six, please make sure you have had a babysitting course and have had cpr training as well as first aide. Will the children be coming to your home or will you be going to theirs? Will the mom being feeding you while you are at her home or will you be feeding her kids at your parents' expense. If you are going to her home and she is feeding you while you are there then I would stick to the original agreed amount. If her kids are coming to your house and your parents' kitchen is open to all then I would let her know you would need the higher amount to help cover any food costs for your parents. She has 5 kids so she should understand. That is a very reasonable rate.

IMHO, I don't think you can. You agreed on a price and now you have to stick to that. It's just like any other employee/employer relationship. I understand that you think you are worth more than that, but a deal is a deal.

BTW, I'm very impressed that you are capable of taking care of 5 kids. I'm not sure I could do that and I'm 45!

Well I watch 3 girls for 13+ hours a day and get 75 a day so depending on how long each day it sounds pretty good. Maybe see how the first week goes and if you think its more work and worth more money then let her know. I don't know how your relationship is with her but most adults want honesty. So maybe let her know before you start that you may have underestimated yourself.

Sorry i can't give you a straight answer because i don't know how many hours you are babysitting per week. I babysit 5 kids and i get paid anywhere from 15-20 $ per hour. I think 250-275 is enough, but if you start the job and then think that it is more work than you expected then ask the lady, nicely. (i'm 13 too!!) Good Luck, Have funn!

To get her in a good mood, give her cookies and say you're glad to be with the family. Ask her very politely and say, "Excuse me, I was wondering since I will be working my best to take care of your kids may I please have 300? If that could happen, it would be wonderful. I bet this will be a great experience that I will remember!"

Well, most of the time I babysit, I get tips. Don't worry about it. Though personally, I would only babysit 3 kids without the help of a friend. I think you should maybe have a friend do it with you. If you have to, just go right up to her and ask if 300 bucks a week would be okay.

Since you offered $250-275, you need to stick with it. Believe me, it's plenty of money for a 13 year old!

Think of it as a lesson learned. Next time you're inclined to be "nice" and give an answer based on what you think the other person wants to hear, and not so much on the truth, you'll think twice.

Good luck with 5 kids! I babysat 4 very active boys when I was 13. I got 75 cents an hour!

holy moly thats alot of kids but if i were you i would just stick it out for about 2 weeks and then tell her mrs, watever her name isi am going to have to rasie the price of my services to 300 i was thinking about it and 5 kids is alot of kids and i think i am not getting paid enough

I would go with the higher end of what you agreed upon, which is $275, but ask her if after one month if you do a good job can you please go up to #300.

Be stern with her. Let her know that 5 kids is ALOT to take care of, ESPECIALLY if they are all under 6! Tell her that you would like a little more than you requested, that being $300.

Just take it as a lesson learned you are already agreeded on a price.

Give it a week and then tell her that it's more work than you thought. Do a great job and she'll probably say yes!

Didn't i just see this question?
