My boyfriend has been so mean lately. Why is he doing this?

We just moved to N.Y.C. He, 5.5 weeks ago, me 2.5 weeks ago. His job requires him to work 12 hour days, whereas, his old job required 8 hour days. He was always cranky when he was tired, but now he is always tired and I am walking on eggshells. Last night finally I blew up at him and said "shut the **** up go to bed" and he called me stupid and told me to go visit my friend in houston for a weekend. I do not know how to handle this. My grandmother says to, "Take time and it will work itself out, in two years he has never been this way until recently. He has to live up to high expectations now with this new job." I do not start my job until Monday. Any advice?

He has proposed to me.

I think maybe he's going thru a tough spot in life, DO NOT dump him! it was good you blew up at him, maybe he'll realize the conciquences of getting mad. Try to be extra nice to him, and ask if there is something he would like to talk about! Even go as far as getting him a small gift! make him feel warmer! Take a day trip somewhere nice with him! make sure he knows you love him! good luck and best wishes ;)

break up with him he seems like a jerk

help me with my question? (:

You are boy friend and girl friend living together without marriage or any committment. Even though it is the 2000 generation and free love and no committment.
They do not deep down respect women in this kind of a relationship. If he loved you and wanted this to be for the rest of his life, by now he would have said, "let's get married"
He sounds like he is under a lot of pressure to succeed.
I would wonder when he makes it big? Am I in his plans?
Or is he just using me for sex until he makes more money and finds someone better? If he told you to leave and visit a friend in Houston for a weekend? Is he trying to break it off without hurting you? If a man loves a women he doesn't want her to leave for a weekend.
