I'm 14 and in the 9th grade...This is what happed in art class today:::?

At my art table is Jen, Lauren,and Emily.They are good friends.I'm not friends with any of them. We're just friendly with eachother. Lauen and I both have the same Social Studies teacher.Today an essay was due.We had to use 5-7 documents out of the 10 he gave us to use in our essays.Lauren says to me "So how many documents did u use?" I say, "Umm...I think I used 6." Lauren:"Really? I only used like two.." Then Emily says,"Um. Don't you know? She(referring to me) is a nerd." I didn't say anything. I was too embarrassed.Sure,I'm smart. But I'm definitely not a nerd.The point is that there was a lot of ppl around and I was so embarrassed.I wanted to say something, but I dindn't know what. My questions are 1)What should I have said to Emily after she called me a nerd? How should I have reacted to something like that? (for future reference) 2)Should I say anything to her tomorrow? If so, what?
My main question is #1.I want to stand up for myself, but I have no idea how to handle this.

I would like to add that she definitely did not say it in a kidding way. She was totally serious, saying it in a mean way. I thought I should add this so ppl wouldn't just think that I'm overreacting. And, yes, Emily herself is quite dumb.

I know how you feel. Something like that happened to me today. Spanish class-long story. What I would say is something like "At least I'm not stupid like you, because obviously I'm doing more than you are!" I too would have been embarrassed. I wouldn't say anything to her, unless the name calling continues. If she says something, ask her why she cares whether or not you are doing your work, and ask her why doing it makes you a nerd.
Are you sure she wasn't just joking around? Because sometimes I over react to things like that when people are just kidding.

it sounds like this girl said that you are a nerd in a really mean way (as opposed to a joking way). i would not have said anything to emily. i would have probably laughed it off. for future ref. just pretend like it didn't effect you at all. Also, don't say anything to her tomorrow because by then emily and other people will have forgotten. if they bring it up again... tell them off.

say just b/c i did or do my work dosent make me a nerd and especially a ***** like you are! say that to her tomorrow. and if she says anything else say mind your own buisness and get a life cause obvously you dont have one if you have to worry about me.

take it like you didnt even care. you have to be able to laugh at yourself once and a while too. just say sarcastically: yea, i know im such a loser!

sarcastically, of couse! but make it really obvious. i doubt that she was actually making fun of you, she prolly just thought u were weird for like a second. she prolly wont even remember bout it tomorrow. good luck.

b) turn aroud and ignore them.
c) Get her a book called I am a total Nerd and it rocks! and say I got you s prestnt to her and walk away.

say to her, "If i'm a nerd, at least I'm smart. Smarter than YOU!" and walk away

if you punch her in the face i promise she will never say it to you again
