Why is the man that handles my money called a "broker"? I too always figured it was because he helped make you broke, but it is derived from an arcaic French word brocour, a mediator. And that is what a stock broker, or insurance broker, does, facilitiates the transactions between you and the stock exchange or you and the insurance company, etc. It originates from the french word 'brocour'. because the more he handles it, the "broker" you get! good question... maybe cuz that's what you will be when he's done |
