About how much do foster parents get paid a month?

my husband and i barely get by. we have 4 children but feel we are being called to be foster parents. we just want to make sure we can handle it all financialy, so neither our children or the foster children would suffer.

That really depends on your state and what agency you go through.
Here- you can do specialized foster care (kids that may need counciling, have minor to severe behavioral issues or backgrounds, etc) and get up to a 1500/month stipend. If you go through DSS though- it's only a few hundred (I *think* around 4)
That all said, don't do it to make extra money. Make sure you really want to help these kids- and that your kids are on board

In Florida you can only foster if you can afford to raise them with out the money. The money for the kids is suppose to go toward a savings fund so they will have money when they leave the system. That money is not really yours. Plus, th foster kid can only be housed with one other person in the room, and that person need to be the same sex. These are our rules. You can talk to your local Children Services and they will tell you theres.

It depends on your state. You can google online state board rates for foster children. I am in Florida and the money we recieve does not go into a trust fund for them. It goes toward the care of the child. If you have a child recieving SSI in foster care that money is put away for them but can be used after getting the approval. You should budget but it is to help with clothes, food, allowance for the oldre children, activities, etc and there is no law that says tha a foster child can only be housed in a room with one other child at least not in Florida because I have 3 children in a room. They are 10 months, 15 months, and 3 years old. The amount of children in a room depends on the square footage of the room.
