Drop in credit score?

I had one of my bills set up on an allotment. The military messed up my paycheck and canceled the allotment. The company called me when I was 31 days late and told me that I had not made the payment. I went that day and paid for two months and explained the situation. They said not to worry it was handled and they understood. I also pay for credit reporting from equifax. My credit dropped 120 points because I missed one payment. Is that normal?? I figured maybe 10 points but that seems high. I mean as soon as I knew I was late I paid it. The company told me that nothing would happen and then 8 days later they drop my credit?? Should I call them and complain until they fix it?? Can one month drop it that much???

I'd contact the credit company, technically you were over 30 days late so it was autmoatically reported to the credit bureaus, but most credit co.s have some leeway with this and they could probably have the late removed if you call and ask to speak to a manager and explain the situation, especially since you paid it right away when you found it was late.

I am sorry to say that you can not fix it. You were technically more than 30 days late regardless of who's fault it is. Unfortunately you will have to wait for the score to go back up on it's own.

You could send them a goodwill letter asking them to not report the 30 day late in the future. Depending on the creditor and your track record with them you may be successful.

how long does the score take to go rise ?

I think thats to much to drop ..........
