How Should I Handle Animal Control?? |
On April 29th (Tuesday) I called animal control to make a complant about 2 dogs chained in the center of my neighbors yard without any shelter or shade to be had. It was 90 degrees and much hotter when your baking in the sun. Animal control went over the house and no one answered the door so they left a sticker on their door that gave them 24 hours to respond. The owners called snimal control and told animal control that they moved the dogs to the side of the house. I called Wednesday (the next day) to tell animal control that the dogs haven't been moved and still are chained in the same spot. Animal control did knock on their door again but still no one answered. Animal control never went to the back yard to check and see if the animals had water (either day). I got a call from animal control and they said there is nothing they can do if the owners don't answer the door, and said they couldn't take the dogs because it's the owner private property. What can I do about this??...HELP! I live in southern Nevada in the desert and there isn't any other foundation here such as Humane Society or SPCA. I was thinking about going to the police department but was told they are as lame as animal control and will just tell me to go back to the animal control office. keep complaining. The squeaky wheel gets the grease In the UK neglecting & abandoning animals is against the law & the police will gain access & remove the dogs? That is certainly terrible but what happens when Animal Control takes the dogs? They will be put in a shelter and probably euthanized. There is almost no good solution for these poor dogs. I wish there were harsher punishments for owners who mistreat animals. Keep complaining and hopefully the owners will be forced to take action and provide for their dogs better. That's bull-crap....it makes no difference if it's private property or not if an animal is not being cared for...as far as the owner not answering the door..gimme a break. do you have a local humane society or animal welfare group? I would try those. Animal Cruelty is punishable nowadays with fin |
