Has your dog ever eaten something poisonous to them?

What was it? And how did you handle it? I say this because we just had a scare with my puppy -- she ate two macadamia nut cookies and we induced vomiting.

(((By the way. This question is NOT for you to harp on me about how I handled my situation. She's 11 months old and we just discovered her new talent -- jumping on the kitchen counter. The instant she ate the cookies I was Googling macadamia nuts and dogs, we found them toxic, and we called the emergency vet, who instructed how to induce vomiting properly. It was all within 10 minutes. This is for you to tell ME your experiences with your dog.)))

Yeah, they had us feed her Hydrogen Peroxide. She didn't like it. I took her in the bathroom because she was going to make a mess... she just stood there for a few minutes... then suddenly... BLEEEEHHHHH.

When my puppy was about 8 months old she found a nest of barely hatched(still had some shell on them) baby birds and low and behold before I could grab her she gulped one down! We used peroxide and she threw it up whole just like she threw it down! I've also heard that mustard powder with induce vomiting, never had to use it but its good to know.

My dog ate some molded chicken that my neighbors had thrown out, you would think she had to be starving or something to make her want to eat green chicken, when she is infact on the obese side. Well, I freaked out because she is like my sister. At the time we didn't know what was wrong with her, she was panting like crazy and having mini seizures and wouldn't stop shaking, so we took her to the vet and they gave her I think it was de-activated charcoal to induce vomitting. The next morning she was fine. I also found out you can make them drink peroxide and it will induce vomitting. All I know was it was so scary, I didn't know what was wrong with my sis! Anyways, that was quick and smart thinking on your part!

Yeah. My naughtybox doggie Brody ate a LOT of Christmas chocolates and candies off the counter 2 years ago (I was a new dog owner!) and I tried to make him throw it up with hydrogen peroxide, but his stomach was too strong. He had an uncomfortable night and the next day threw up all of the wrappers in a big ball. Last year he then ate a lot of raisins out of the cupboard. I took him to the vet for some charcoal! He survived just fine.

Once Pickle my mini daschund ate a candy bar, I had discovered HIS talent witch just so happend to be opening my dresser droor! (How did he do that? Don't ask me) I just called my vet who told me to have him drink lots of water.
