Neck and upper back is really sore from getting hit by another car in a recent car accident. What should I do |
I was hit by another car and pushed into a car in front of me about three weeks ago. A week after the accident, I started to experience neck pain down to my shoulder and some back pain. No, you don't "get paid" and then go see a doctor. You go see a doctor, get a diagnosis and prognosis, get treated, total up the bills when you are finally released, and THEN get paid. If you feel a need to see a dr then by all means see one. you will have to pay out of pocket for each visit. check to see if you have pip(personal injury protection) on your policy. if you do have this, it will pay 80% of your medical bills and allstate would owe the 20%. if you do not have pip, allstate owes dollar one. at the conclusion of your injury claim allstate will have you sign a release. allstate will probably up the offer as your treatment goes on in attempt to settle. No matter what, after an accident...see a doctor. You do not have to take the ambulance because you could incur fees for taking it if it wasnt an "emergency". You should always get checked just to make sure. If I were you I'd contact their insurance agent and tell them you are going to be seeing a doctor to get checked out due to neck and back pains. If they say something like why all of the sudden? You do not feel the aches and pains until days or even weeks later. Best of luck. Allstate will probably not pay you upfront for your doctor's visit, and they are not required to "pay as you go" either. If you are tort eligible, they will reimburse you after your treatment has concluded with a lump sum settlement. |
