WHY would someone say this ?

Long story short. I found 2 ducklings on the beach being mis handled by a couple of kids while mom and dad watched. I confronted the mistreatment to find these ducklings only days old... no momma duck to be found and found it odd ducks were on a bike path on the local beach.. there was no where for a nest to be found... nowhere.

I took the ducks over night, fed them, kept them warm and found them alot more awake and alert this am. I promptly took them to the local wetland wildlife rescue.. all is happy me and them.

I told this story to a friend... she only could say.. These are protected species. It is against the law to remove them! She kept going on about it ... Just to shut her freaking face I told her that I called the local fish and game and they said that I did the right thing.. ( that was an untruth )

But the local wildlife rescue told me I did do a wonderful job and they will raise them until they can be set free...

Why would someone keep saying that is agains

it is against the law.. over an over.. telling me I did the wrong thing?

**Both ducklings were only a day or so old according to the rescue and they were not in what they call "nesting area" and the fact that there was no food only sand... and salt water around ... and cold air.. spelled death to them over night.


I know I did the right thing. I am pissed I had to tell my friend a lie to shut her up!

I never heard of ducks being a protected species, but then again I don't keep up with these things. As for your friend, she is probably just envious that you had a chance to do that, as most of us don't ever get in as close contact with cute tiny little duck babies. Don't listen to her.

Ask her is she felt the law required you to allow the kids to continue abusing them. It sounds like she knows one little fact about wildlife and that makes her feel big, so she has to keep repeating it despite the facts that she would be getting if she would shut up and listen.
I am with that lady above. I'd stop talking to her.

why would you listen to this friend if yours when the professionals told you that you did the right thing... next time you see make sure you tell them about the praise that you got once you turn the ducks in for treatment, that should shut her up

She probably isn't your friend then because a real friend would have asked if you needed help caring for them. Some people these says don't give a crap about anybody or and thing else other than them selves. I would say not to be friends with her anymore.
