My ex-girlfriend still wants to be friends even though she has someone else. Should I?

We broke up approximately a year and a half ago. We fought a lot but tried to make it work throughout that year. Each fight got worse and worse until finally, I stopped calling, or going to her house. I was so mad that I gave her her spare car key back that she had given me. After about a week, I found out through co-workers that she had a new boyfriend. She later told me that she had been seeing him for a month though it could have been longer from what other people have told me.

I was deeply hurt but there was nothing I could do. We had stopped communicating. But now, she say that she thinks that we should still be friends. She said that she still needs my friendship. Honestly, I've never stopped loving her and I don't know if I can handle being just friends. She thinks it's immature of me to not want to be friends still. Would you do it? What would you do?

Juggman's right. I wouldn't do it. She "needs" your friendship. That says it all right there. If you're concerned about your own best interests, avoid further complications and stay away. She would be using you and eventually, you would be hurt again. I think she wants to keep you around in case things don't work out between her and this other guy. Obviously though, she's willing to look at other guys. If this one doesn't work out and you get back together, she won't stop shopping...
