Post tramatic stress disorder??


last summer i was sexually assualted a couple times by my best friend. after that my 'friend' decided "if he couldnt have me no one could" and he said he was goin to kill me. i went through alot wit him and the police. now little things will remind me of those bad nights with him, and im terrified of being alone at night or in the woods alone bc those r places it took place. everytime i see a knife thoughts come rushing back. some weeks ill think bout everything 3 or 4 days others maybe jus once for a brief second. this guy did apologize to me bout 5months ago and hes tried calling lately. i have the urge to be friends wit him again. my boyfriend doesnt understand and gets mad. well i dont even understand. why would i want to talk to him? do i have PTSD?

if i get into a fight wit my bf or mom i cant handle it. i get stressed and break out in a bad rash and cant breath hardly. that never happened to me a year ago? this related?

Yes, it sounds like you have PTSD. And I think you should have NO contact with that man again. I know he was your best friend and apologized, but he HURT YOU. An apology won't fix a scarred soul. Please, for your sake, don't try to contact him again.

The things you are experiencing are "triggers". You should seriously consider therapy, it would be so good for you right now. You can talk about all of these things, and it will lift such a huge weight off of your chest. In therapy, your psychologist/therapist will teach you how to work through your triggered thoughts. It will make life so easy for you.

And do not, DO NOT go for anti-depressants right away. A pill cannot fix these problems. Start therapy, and then after a month or two of visits, you should start considering medication. Only medication with therapy would benefit your situation.

Sounds very much like you have PTSD. The symptoms are showing up regularly and are interrupting your daily life. Therapy is a good option, the earlier the better! Waiting for years will make it very difficult later on.
Also, there are excellent online groups for survivors of abuse. I would highly recommend joining one, they can be great for support. You're not alone....take care.

Sounds like PTSD. EMDR is the best treatment for that, along with cbt.
