How 2 handle pervy guy at work? |
This older guy in his late 40's who usually comes by my desk 3 times a day for a gossip has started being pervy in my company e.g. I wear tops with logos on like A&F and he always stares at my chest and asks what it says (he'd done this about 4 times). I feel so unconfortable now that when he walks towards me I have to cover up! He also calls me 'totty' and puts a sexual twist on everything e.g. mentioning spanking, girl on girl action etc. Im just fed up with it now and dread him coming over. Im sure he doesn't realise half of what he is doing and does it all in a joking type of way which makes it difficult to confront him. Talk to your boss or HR department. If he does it to you he's probably making other women uncomfortable too. You don't need to confront him yourself as that might make working with him even more awkward. Often pervs respond to confrontation with "oh can't you take a joke? You're too uptight." Let your boss tell him that there have been complaints from female staff and that he should keep his behaviour more professional. what makes him think he is welcome? do you let sexy younger guys get away with it? if so, then he has every reason to think he is welcome. "Look George....(pause for dramatic effect)....I don't think that you should be saying those sort of things to me. I know you're just joking, but it's inappropriate and could result in us losing our jobs. Thanks for understanding....(insert fake smile here)." be blunt. |
