OMG! He asked me to marry him, how do I say no? |
My boyfriend of 3 years asked me to marry him today and I didn't know what to say. Luckily, we were interrupted by a phone call saying my sister felt ill at school and I had to go fetch her. I made out like she was sicker than she was. Yea you guys are right. I don't want to break up with him, I do love him, the whole thing just felt like someone slapped me across the face with a fish. I felt exactly this way. My fiancee was hinting about a proposal and I was scared. I wasn't ready but also wasn't ready to break up. I wasn't REALLY SURE that I was ready to spend the rest of my life with this person. So I made a list of what i wanted in a potential mate and compared it to my fiancee. It matched, but then I considered what I wanted to do with my future and thought about whether I could picture my fiancee included in this. Then I asked for a LONG engagement, 15 months, to let me slow down, breathe, and mentally prepare. Now our wedding is 2 wks away and I've long since been ready! I'm so happy and I know I made the right decision, but I'm glad I didn't rush into it. Tell him how you feel you can love someone and not want to marry them or commit yet. JUst tell him your feelings and let him understand it doesn't have to do with him as a person but your maturity and you lack of readiness. If he loves you that much hell stick around until your ready. tell him you are not ready for marriage, but it doesn't mean you have to stop seeing him, if you have been going out for three years he should understand. What confuses me is why people stay in these 3 year relationships if they just want to waste their time. Why get in a serious relationship with someoneif you can't see yourself with him in the long run? And wouldn't it dawn on you after, oh I don't know, the 1st year. People are just selfish when it comes down to it. Tell him "Sorry for wastin |
