Home alone....scared....help??

I'm home alone right now....
I'm so scared someone's going to come in and rape or kill me right now....I can't call my dad or anything, either.....

Why do I get paranoid like this? What could this be? I keep hallucinating, too, and hearing bangs at my door but when I check there's nothing there.....I can never handle being home alone because I'm so paranoid.....What do I do to calm down?? I'm having a panic attack because of this....my doctor gave me meds to "help" but they don't do squat.

I get this way too! I'm on bipolar meds (zyprexa and lithium). They work very well at combatting paranoia and hallucinations. I started them in June 06 and haven't had hallucinations since. The only time I get paranoid is when I don't take my meds. I hate feeling that way. Like..when my husband leaves for work, I try to go back to sleep but always feel paranoid like you do. I just have to keep taking my meds to not feel this way.
Maybe you can change your meds. Talk to your doctor about it. I wish you the best.

why don't you try counseling. the may get to the root cause of your problem.

stay calm, turn on all your lights, and just relax and watch tv, or something, do sometihng fun that can relax you, this used to happen to me so i would just call a friend to talk to and go on myspace or watch tv
